Our Story
In 1997 a team of about 15 people moved from the Newfrontiers Church in Brighton and planted City Church in the centre of Bristol. By the beginning of 2001 God was clearly speaking to the leadership of City Church, particularly Nick Todd, about starting a new church in the north of Bristol.
In January 2002 a group of 25 people were officially "sent out" to establish City Church North Bristol. The church grew steadily and in July 2003 moved to the Jubilee Centre in Bradley Stoke. In May 2005 an Eldership Team was appointed, made up of Nick Todd, Jeff Steady, Chris Rowell & Murray Aldridge.
In September 2005 the church moved again – to the brand new Bradley Stoke Community School. Recognising this new season the church was officially renamed Bridge Community Church.
Bridge Community Church has always been committed to reproducing church life. In the autumn of 2005, 25 people were sent out to start a new church in East Bristol – Hope Church. At the start of 2007 Jeff Steady stood down from Eldership so that he could lead a new church planting initiative in Malvern – Malvern Life.
In 2008 God led us to re-evaluate what we were building in north and east Bristol. Rather than building separate churches God clearly spoke to us about bringing Bridge and Hope together as two distinct congregations within the same church – Bridge Community Church.
